BLAM is a non-profit martial arts school whose founder, World Karate Champion Professor Vernon "Taishi" Jones, created the organization at the age of 14, in 1987, initially as a community service project. The company's primary focus is to provide after school tutoring, karate and summer camp programs to disadvantaged youth and their families.

BLAM teaches children essential self defense skills and practical, proven self-defense methods. The center also emphasizes that the skills are for class only, so students don't go home and try them on their family members or neighbors.

The program also teaches children discipline, and employs a trained staff of patient instructors who love to work with children, but are also very clear about limits. Good rules of behavior are emphasized in class, and expected at home and in school.

Afterschool, tutoring and karate program runs from about 2pm to 6:30pm five days a week. Students are either picked up from school by a BLAM representative or a service, or dropped off by parents. While at the school, students have a snack, complete their homework, and then take part in activities such as competitions, movies, video games, a computer lab, and much more. Karate is taught three times a week in each student's respective classes according to grade levels and rank.

Space limited to 100 campers. CDS/BECAS Vouchers are accepted for this program. BLAM provides free transportation from over 50 different public, private and charter schools to its afterschool, tutoring & karate programs.
