Eight-thousand square feet of climbing surfaces make a place like Boulder Morty's a rarity in the Northeast, with a 40-station indoor mountain range spanning from smooth novice climb to a jagged inverted peak.
Novice climbers need to get the hange of belaying. The belayer holds the safety end of the rope and keeps the line taut enough to protect the climber from sudden drops. The $34 fee for the one-time introductory class, which includes equipment and climbing time, is a big initial investment; but once you've passed, you'll just pay for a day pass and equipment. (Kids under 12 don't need the class, they are too young to belay). |
